Product Description
Color and contrast enhancement Light rays which are reflected by any surface can become polarised so polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. CIRCULAR PL filters allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc. They also enable colors to become more saturated and appear clearer with better contrast. This effect is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds. HOYA's polarising filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot.

4 out of 5 stars Quality ...   September 5, 2010

As you'd expect for the price, this is a high quality item. The usual features - once mounted it can be rotated to acheive the transmission characteristics you're after, you can fit the lens cap on over the filter if you want.

I think it needs another 1/8th or so of a rotation on the thread, and a little more knurling on the outer grip - is a bit of a pain to get screwed on, but it's not really a problem - it stays firmly attached once on.

1 out of 5 stars Rubbish   August 16, 2010

I have used Hoya filters for some years and always been happy with the quality. Not any longer. I purchased a 72mm polarizing filter last year. On holiday in April it quite literally fell apart in my hands and couldn't be put back together. I thought that perhaps I had damaged it so on my return bought another. On holiday in FRance the same thing happened but this time the glass fell away from the screw mount while I was walking along. I believe that this is a design fault that Hoya must know about. I certainly won't be replacing this expensive but crucial bit of kit with another Hoya filter and would recommend to others that they save their money

The filter being sold did`nt turn up-I was refunded the full amount.
I then checked the website and they still had the same item for sale but for a greater amount.
I E`mailed them with a chance to answer my queries but they did`nt answer my questions!!!
Would'nt recommend or use again.

I am really glad I bought this filter. It has widened my scope of photographic experiences and skills. A good purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Does the job well   July 30, 2010

Is as it says on the tin - no noticeable degradation in image quality on my Sigma 30mm 1.4 - excellent lens btw - and really boosts the skies and contrast on stupidly sunny days.

Which is arguably pointless in the UK, but still an invaluable tool in my camera bag.
