3 out of 5 stars not bad   September 7, 2010

For the small price of [...] i wasnt expecting much from this product but thought even if it didnt work i would have an in car iphone charger. It works well if it is placed in the storage area behind the handbrake but once i plug in the charger the quality drops. Overall a decent product for the price that saved me buying a new car stereo for £60+.

3 out of 5 stars Charger does not work   September 7, 2010
Dr. W. E. Allen (Belfast, UK)
The first thing I want to say is thatthe actual FM transmitter works well enough. In a couple of days use it has worked loose from the iPod once, so it is not perfect. It does however give a good clear signal when used in my 2008 Vectra. It is also very simple to use. The main fault is that it is supplied with a 12v charger, which connects to the transmitter using a mini USB connector. The LED on the charger lights up, indicating that the fuse etc is fine, but nothing happens when it is connected up to the iPod (3rd generation Touch). At first I was not sure if this was a problem with the charger or with the transmitter. However I have a Garmin sat nav which also uses a mini USB charger. It's car charger when connected to the FM transmitter charges the iPod, so the fault is with the supplied charger. I think the problem may be voltage. The supplied charger says it produces 5V. I note the garmin one and the Apple mains charger I have both say they output 5.7V.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent transmitter   September 3, 2010

Used a couple of transmitters for the car to play my ipod and have always been disappointed. Almost gave up before trying this one. When you 1st tune in I need to put the receiver right next to the radio for it to pick it up but that takes a second and there is little interference after that. Highly recommended product.

3 out of 5 stars One of the best of this type I have had   September 3, 2010

I've used a lot of methods for running my ipod/iphone through my car stereo. As my stereo doesn't have a AUX IN point (which is without doubt the best way to play music this way) I have had many different adapters and so far this is the best.

I have an iPhone 3GS and it is completely compatible with it and fits in the bottom fine (contrary to other reviews, I presume it must have been a faulty product). You obviously have the signal issues that you will always get with radio transmission when driving as you enter other frequencies but on the whole it's fine and generally only needs changing when driving long distances and you might pick up a local station.

My only issue with it is that I can't use the charger as whenever I plug it into my cigarette lighter I get a lot of static through the stereo. This may very well just be an issue with my car but it is a shame as the charging option was a big pro for buying this item.

Still the best one I've had though although it is definitely much easier to use a lead if you can.

4 out of 5 stars Good - on smooth roads   September 2, 2010
Mr. Swede (Manchester, England)
Easy to use - hardest part i found was finding a decent white noise radio station with static either side too. No mean feat in a city centre.

Main problem i find is that it REALLY doesn't like potholes/speed bumps/any rough road or movement in general, even more so when it's plugged in being charged. To be fair, i don't have a proper cradle of any kind and just have it resting on the passenger seat or in the coin tray. My solution is to rest it on a coat or something soft and it seems to work perfectly then. Holds signal well and sound quality from iPhone through car speakers is great.

Works fine with new iPhone 4 and has ability to charge too which is a big plus. Doesn't fit in when i use my iPhone 4 Apple bumper case though.

Minor niggles really. I think it's a brilliant gadget (iPod/iPhone music through your car speakers!), it's a bargain for the price and would recommend it to anyone.
