So simple to use July 19, 2010 SDL The Seagate External Hard Drive is so easy to use. Simple drag and drop technique means backing up your files on your PC's hard drive is as straight forward as possible. With 1TB of storage capacity, its unlikely that i'll ever fill it but it's ideal for backing up photos and videos that take up room on your desktop computer.
Delivery was very swift and it arrived in top condition and takes no time at all to set up.
All in all, one very satisfied customer!
Great value, reliable drive. July 15, 2010 Guitar Heroine (Somewhere In England.) Before buying this drive, I was almost put off by some of the negative reviews posted here on Amazon. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a go, as the good reviews seemed to outweigh the bad ones, and I'm glad I took that chance. Within seconds of being plugged in at the mains and plugged into the computer via a USB port, it was ready to go.
I've had no problems at all, and in fact am currently running 5 of these drives through a 10-port USB hub with no slowing of function or anything else to report. Thoroughly recommended and these are now my external back-up option of choice.
inferior July 15, 2010 maxernst 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this to use as extra storage space and to back up files. After less than six months the external drive ceased to be recognised by my PC. Checked cables, another computer etc, problem was to do with the external drive failing. This hapened after LOTS of clicking noises from the product (it made the occasional clicking sound anyway, which I think is normal). Tried contacting Seagate direct several times to no avail (basically their online support is rubbish, and to get through to an advisor/technician is imposible). Looking at Seagate's website's message boards there are a LOT of very disgruntled customers describing the inferior nature of this product. Cheap, yes, but unstable and unreliable. Amazon replaced the product straight away, but could do nothing about lost files. In my experience (and others' judging by the Seagat message boards) purchase with caution, and only use as backup, not extra space.
External hard drive memory July 14, 2010 Nikle Seagate Expansions 1TB External Desktop USB 2.0 Hard Drive for PCFor this price you will not get any better memory, one probleme unable to switch off when not in use. I get by this by connecting through a switched connection on my laptop. As to the expansion drive itself I can only say I downloaded eveything from my old P/C to the hard drive in 4 hrs total of 24gb
not bad I think for a novice.
Does what is says July 10, 2010 Ecojoe This is my second Seagate drive, first one still works well after three years. Needed more space so went for the 1Tb. arrived next day, took it out of the box plugged it in and started to copy large files from my PC. Worked perfectly, as I expected; still works perfectly. Haven't timed the transfers, but as with my other Seagate, it's pretty fast and doesn't frustrate. Pretty quiet too. This drive also looks prettier that my old one. All in all, very satisfied. Recommend it.
